Joerg Ehtreiber (President, Center of Science Activities)
Joerg Ehtreiber (b. 1967) is since 2003 CEO and artistic director of KIMUS Kindermuseum Graz GmbH, an enterprise of the City of Graz in Austria. His company includes ¡°The Graz children¡¯s museum - FRida & freD¡± (opened 2003), the ¡°Graz Fairytale train¡± (opened 2014), the Science Center CoSA – Center of Science Activities (opened 2018) and the Salon Stolz (opened 2023; a music museum dedicated to the Austrian composer Robert Stolz). With more than 200,000 visitors, his museums and companies are an integral part of Graz's cultural landscape. FRida & freD also has an international reputation for its excellent travelling exhibitions for children and families. Joerg Ehtreiber studied physics, chemistry and museum education at the University of Graz, Austria. After that, he became head and curator of the energy department at the Technical Museum in Vienna, followed by the position as Head of the hands-on exhibitions unit. Ehtreiber completed a management training and founded MTC (Museum & Technology Company). He worked several years as a consultant for museums and governmental institutions, planning and implementing large-scale exhibition projects, worked in the field of exhibit and exhibition development, project management and as program manager. He has written two books ¡°Johannes Kepler – Die andere Seite¡± and ¡°Physicist¡¯s anecdotes¡±. Joerg Ehtreiber has been involved since 1999 in the networks Ecsite and Hands-On! International Association of Children in Museums. Since 2015, he is President of Hands On! International Association of Children in Museums and serves on various boards in an advisory capacity. Together with the Universalmuseum Joanneum and the Science Center Network Austria, he organised the Ecsite annual conference ¡®Colours of cooperation¡¯ in Graz in 2016.
